A short bus ride away from Bebelplatz (site of last year’s S/S show)--- the refined, modern kitted out Hotel Ellington was the glam setting for the Lac Et Mel Spring 2010 fashion show.

What a difference a year makes.

The Lac Et Mel gal is all grown up now… with a sophisticated feminine wardrobe to match her lifestyle. Think of the morphing of the American fashion label Tuleh...for the uptown girl that used to party downtown...but much like her Gossip Girls younger siblings, now opts for more elegant settings.

Even the congenial designer himself, Gregor Clemens –who started out designing tees… looked positively dapper in his post show bow to attendees, outfitted in a handsome white blazer paired with denim…versus last year’s more casual threads.

Right off, we admired the striking arcade set of oversized white horizontal squares against a black backdrop---that defined the space…and added an element of drama to the presentation.

And the clothes themselves…well done.

We loved the sleeveless shifts the best. Our top pick was a fun, silk strapless summery frock in raspberry, a dynamic one strap silver top over a fitted black bottom… and an elegant pale brown one shouldered dress with a flirty ruffled hem.

A few fifties silhouettes, particularly the plaid, short sleeve tailored dress on Germany’s Next Top Model winner, Sara Nuru… had us thinking of the fashion icon, the American Claire Mc Cardell who made bias cut and tailored day dresses, and harem pants-flawlessly- with a relaxed but very posh vibe.

Billowing silk palazzo pants was perfectly paired with a deep coral sleeveless top with strap details. And Clemens continued his high waist trouser selections too.

Not that we ever doubted his tailoring skills, but BRAVO to Clemens for sending out a perfectly FITTED, ruched sleeveless cocktail number we would wear NOW!

The fabrics-sumptuous silks in particular popped with spring colors... both pretty pastels and bold, saturated colors…with a dash of black.

THANK-YOU: The delicious buffet lunch in the delightful courtyard. We couldn’t stay but trust us… we could have nabbed the lounger with a glass of bubbly…and been very happy.
