  13 Art Institutes®  Designers Took the Runway for New York Fashion Week Skylight at Moynihan Station, The Arc  West 33rd St, NYC 2/17/2016 The Art Institutes @art_institutes   -a consortium of 50 schools throughout North  America-  presented thirteen of their top designers – both current students and recent graduates – during New York Fashion Week.  Twelve collections (11 individuals and one design duo) highlighting each designer’s unique diversity were delivered through discipline, dedication and sealed with the determination to succeed. We had a ticket to see the Broadway musical Hamilton-so time backstage was brief...unfortunately-but chatting with three of the designers-reminded us of why these 'school' shows are always a highlight during NYFW-as the emphasis seems to focus on each designer's amazing individual vision of apparel -and unique hands-on skills of craft/workmanship-vs. a strictly comm...

Out Hotel, NYC It's been awhile since we were at a fashion event-at the Out Hotel's oasis-like verdant outdoor space -located to the far west of bustling Times Square... Lead MakeUp artist MAHASIN PHILLIPS Mercifully-the weather was sunny---and gave the INGLOT makeup team-led by Mahasin Phillips ..a no special lights needed-for the flawless applications on the models' faces. The focus -was on one element-the eyes-using a striking silver that worked on several skin tones. Think of it as the eye shadow equivalent of red lipstick-so bold-the rest of the face is kept neutral. Worked TOTALLY for the Brooklyn based designer- CRISTINA RUALES SS'16 collection.
