One of our fav new labels ( new to us , anyway ) --- Berlin menswear label SOPOPULAR -is up for has made the ' Start Your Fashion Business 2013 '-as one of the 3 (out of 50) top finalists. Designer Daniel Blechman wowed the jury with his designs in the fourth edition of the competition. The verdict rendered at the final presentation- followed by an awards ceremony on July 5th 2013 @ Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin, which kicks off the the Spring / Summer 2014 RTW collections. Inspiration: "Black Hole Sun" --- fyi-by Soundgarden-with frontman par excellence-Chris Cornell)... part of the so-called grunge Seattle scene in the 90s ---which is seemingly having a lot of play in fashion these days. AND - Japanese architect Tadao Ando influenced the geometric shapes, straight lines and minimalism, which in typical SOPOPULAR collection colors black, white and gray.
