NEW:HAIRCARE BRANDS Get Greener

NYC The late Intelligent Nutrients founder Horst Rechelbacher -a man dedicated to a purer life without toxic chemicals...made quite the favorable impression on us. We are always ref-ing the wide-ranging convo- had a few years back - that included his astute observation that a stroll down any typical haircare aisle in any retail outlet-serves up shampoos (or conditioners) where the first five- thereby main ingredients...would mostly be the same. Point being...high or lower priced, there is plenty of toxicity shared by all things devoted to cleansing/caring for precious stresses. Hence the USDA Certified Organic label-the highest standard for 'green' imo-is seen a very few haircare brands ...but are happily on high performance products- including our two favs -the aforementioned  I ntelligent Nutrients  and TELA BEAUTY Organics by Philip Pelusi . AND there is a growing awareness by all haircare brands---that consumers world wide are aware of the negative association...

Lincoln Center, NYC Venexiana's red carpet stunners require elaborate coiffeurs …and Philip Pelusi using Tela Beauty Organics -wonderfully aromatic products-achieved the braided hair equivalent of bejeweled  crowns atop the models. Polished tresses, transformed into Rapunzel like long braids…. everyone was filming something... Tela Beauty Organics-Hair Gloss, Composer and Encore-styling creme-for shine and hold-$32/each Philip Pelusi P2 Define hairspray …did just that Pinned around the head-and two circular buns pinned in the back…rolled inwards… Rhinestone jewel pins attached…finished the look... The makeup table belongs to ALCONE …the insider's place for all those beauty cult brands…had their team applying the makeup for the show. ATHLETE GAL'S Guide to Beauty/Skincare/Haircare Part 2

Numero uno must wear ( after sunscreen ) -and sometimes 'that's it'--- is concealer. YSL Touché Eclat ($40) and   Clé de Peau 's concealer ($68) got/gets so much press- we bought them to try out. Okay -both are throughly decent products but really , for everyday- the cult fav Eve Pearl Dual Salmon Concealer $39-that is creamy but not greasy-and on occasion, used as a foundation, gets the nod. Also getting used fairly often- truly only need a freckle size IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereyes $24 mixed up with moisturizer for sheerer coverage. left to right- well used-Eve Pearl Salmon Concealer Duo (handy mirror compact), Clé de Peau Powder and a smashed several times Smashbox Photo Set Pressed Powder -mirror compact too. Sponge applicator comes with it-but we like using a foundation brush…for contouring. Separate foundations-akin to fancy and casual wardrobe options-seem to fit. The black tie go to was the  Cle de Peau  Cream Foundation-but we finished that -(over a 3...

BACKSTAGE BEAUTY/HAIR Venexiana S/S 2014 by Philip Pelusi/Tela Beauty Organics

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week/Lincoln Center Exquisitely ornate, Kati Stern's Venexiana S/S 2014 runway collection featured "haute couture" hair by Philip Pelusi-using his USDA Certified Organic Tela Beauty Organics .  The center part and interwoven rope waves...a look dubbed "Venetian Carnival" used the models own hair smoothed out...with pre-braided pieces attached in a V-shape, then it all was gathered at the nape of the neck-and twisted/braided/pinned for a polished look. The models (and their locks) probably were a bit relieved with the use of Tela products...including Dri Shampoo to give texture for the center parted hair (from hairline to crown), and Encore Organic Dri Styling Creme andSplit End for smoothness/hold.  Composer Organic Styling-gave the 'do moisturizing shine. Very Pretty! Philip Pelusi (r)  INFO:   www.telanyc.com https://www.facebook.com/ tel...

THREEASFOUR/VENEXIANA Fall 2013

FYI... Two New York Fashion Fall 2013 shows we missed...but wished we didn't. We thought both labels used some of the most luxurious fabrics with many artful details...as expected---and are more couture-like than RTW. ThreeAsFour fittingly had their runway at an art gallery, Greene/NAFTALI on West 26th Street...with a RTW collection inspired by the zodiac signs...including a recently discovered 13th sign that should- in turn, inspire an entire new industry of astrologists/chartists/conspiracy theorists. PLUS: Make-up by one of our fav lines---Temptu Kati Stern's VENEXIANA ....at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week/Lincoln Center ...was a Red Carpet extravaganza including gleaming evening looks---that would make any wearer feel like she's about to win an Oscar. Bonus points to Mehron for the dramatic smokey eyes make-up... and Philip Pelusi for TELA  for the soft side, rolled twists...with an 'S' curve to its shape. ...
