Without the glitz and glam of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Runway fete in Berlin (click here for our review), NYC based media had a chance for a more leisurely (and quiet) follow-up to the Schumacher S/S 2011 RTW collection---that allowed us to get an up close view of what makes this label one of our favorites.
We would slot the garments and accessories we saw ---and loved---in the luxury brand category...as the materials, workmanship, and details are in that high-end niche, though priced a bit more accessibly then say the premium lines of a Donna Karan or a Vera Wang, to name two comparable designers.
Modern Prints---on a sleeve.

Like the aforementioned women designers, Dorothee Schumacher is the heart of her company---and everything from the luscious satchels, the stacked platform strap sandals, elegant travel accessories---to the day/evening wear separates---bears her signature:
Feminine, sensuous attention to detail
Sportiness balanced with chic…notice this sleeve on a white cotton denim jacket and the piping seams---geometric pattern on a pair of soft denim pants...
Garments that are versatile are interchangeable pieces that work with basics one would already have…
Spring 2011 has a sixties futuristic vibe with geometric shapes---softened by the materials used…sheer chiffon, delicate layers, uneven hems….
Buttery Leather Jacket---Motorcycle zip cuffs with a girlish twist...wear with casual daywear or over a ballgown.
Sequins and sparkling details that one could wear to the office as well as for more formal occasions.
Cropped Leather pants---a grown-ups reply to jeggins/leggings
Eyelet cottons,
Modern Prints---on a sleeve.
Zippers, laser cuts, and button hardware elevates the ordinary to fashion statements...plus the mix of fabrics is exceptional---high tech like techno mesh or neoprene as strong accents ---
Mixed with fine silks and knitwear in muted and pastel tones---
This Milky Rose top on a fun box pleat skirt with a peekaboo hem ---an adult can wear this.
Sheer, sexy but not tight---
Clean minimalist cuts with a distinct female interpretation---the embellishments are just stunning.
Accessories----laser leather cut satchels, totes, shoes...
