CHARLES DAVID FOOTWEAR SPRING 2011/BRIDAL Editor's Preview

BRYANT PARK HOTEL,  NYC

Charles David footwear for women falls into that sweet-spot of affordable luxury---with feminine contemporary shoes, boots and sandals with a cosmopolitan European flair ---retailing around $98-$400.

We remember this brand from the 90's ---and recently Nathalie Marciano (related to the Maricano's of Guess---and daughter of the American born founder)---is at the creative helm...

What one gets for that sum are beautifully made shoes---in the primo cobbler locales of Italy, Spain and Brazil...in polished leathers, silk and natural materials that are always popular in the Summer.

We took in a recent preview in midtown and thought the casual and dressy styles we saw were very on trend the styles women want.

A play on the clog/stacked platform with leather heels, metal hardware studs, extra playful details like bowed fringe togs---...

Flat sandals have nice embellishments on the upper thongs---Gladiators refined---flats with zips on the back give this classic style some edge.

Love the leather braids as straps, leather and rafia flower cutouts...stones...and the silver beads--- .

Espadrilles with height and elegance---the gathered upper gives this staple beach sandal some chic---and in animpal prints and bold colors.

We also saw some shoes and sandals from a bridal/bridesmaid collection tat really anyone could wear whenever.

Mixed textures with a nod to the outdoors, to the manor born---the camel brown leather and rough canvas a combo we think is very chic---in boots (especially these Victorian lace-ups), spectators, oxfords...very sophisticated.
