"I turn often to Asia for inspiration and my Fall 2012 ready to wear collection was in sired by Mongolia and the drama of that untamed land. I am fascinated by Mongolian nomads, Kublai Khan, Marco Polo, and the traders on the Silk Road - and how their dramatic and colorful lives were shaped by this vast frontier."
Josie Natori

Exquisite---"...a terrific outing but of course, she's a pro ---she knows what she's doing..." was one chit chat that we had post the JOSIE NATORI Fall 2012 show---

But expectations were exceeded with this runway show-really a graceful walk down the long elegant staircase of the Rubin Museum of Art---graciously installed in the former haunts of the original Barney's.

Exotic mixtures of textiles and details (lace, sequins), yet very wearable and tastefully urbane---

purple felted panel skir, merino wool neck top-black leather topper

printed sheath dress with felted coat and infinity scarf= stunning

We thought silhouette wise, with a nod to the 20's and 30's of Hollywood film glamour --- in some of the evening looks, plus lovely day items including a printed sheath and several skirts...underneath posh Asian influenced outerwear--- wrapped coats/jackets (toppers) in wool, silk and leather---with kimono curves and padded shoulders for shape... or versatile cropped boleros.

In all-a successful collection, and we think, a very personal one for the designer---with several ensembles that literally took our breath away---and impressive, given the number of collections under the Josie Natori imprint.
