Veteran fashion designer Patricia Clyne's
Helios & Luna---staged in the company showroom- was a colorful initiation into a fashion driven women's label chock full of wearable top/skirt combos made from silks and different kinds of wool----and flattering dresses.

As we saw elsewhere this season---the welcome use of bold tones (as in polished copper, dahlia blue, fire red)--- and strong patterns like stripes and polka dots- were here--- inspired by an exhibition of British conceptual artist Martin Creed.
A sixties vibe permeated---with help from the hair and make-up on the models...as in the boxy alpaca houndstooth print jacket over a shell and with a polka dot print pencil skirt, plus other outfits with what we would call sensible lady-like blouses and pencil skirts that verged on the Mad Men attire we see on AMC.

Très Chic-grape stretch bouclé stand collar 3/4 sleeve blouse with exposed zip back over grape pencil skirt in stretch bouclé with exposed zip back |
But the details kept the ensembles levels above thrift shop finds---the leather trims, asymmetrical solo banding of a skirt, the faux leather tuxedo stripe detail ---the intricate use of fabrics with techy properties.
We favored the versatile mini dresses as in the cocoon shape cap sleeve dress-pictured below--- that is a staple wardrobe item---to wear with leggings, with stockings and boots or pumps...or in warmer temps with sandals. Nice.

Rayon matte jersey cocoon shape cap sleeve dress...with a single side panel draped and piped in silk fire. Asymmetric chocolate colored patent leather bow belt |
Another modern style we favored---the washed silk charmeuse cap sleeve t-shirt dress with draped pockets and shirred dress.

asymmetrical hem of a georgette T-shirt with a double layer of georgette-over dark chocolate double knit leggings |
We also think-when delivered, the clothes will look great on women of all shapes which is always a big plus---some of the pieces were big on the models.
