GEREN FORD SPRING 2010

WAITING FOR THE SUNNY DAYS: SEPARATES/DRESSES=COLORFUL & FUN

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK, Metropolitan Pavilion

Words, Images Judith Ecochard

We got schooled in all things Geren Ford two seasons ago…when the LA based designer (GEREN LOCKHART) started showing her collection in NYC.

What we always admired about this fashion talent, besides the clothes---- is her MO…she tries out her label’s garments on the gals under her employ.

And if the threads don’t look good/fit on these real sized ladies…they are not part of the collection.

We assume that is who the first 4 runway walkers were…G.F toilers…and they looked great-no wonder they're all smiling!!!!!

Two thumbs up for the bold colors of this outing…a refreshing lift off from the moody rocker chicks that ruled last season…for several designers btw.

Major points on the jumpsuits too. Here in sparkling emerald green and a delicate flower print... a tad billowey---but in a flattering way…and actually look comfortable to wear.

Cropped and slim pants in black ---paired with silk tops ---some a vivid pop flower print---looked great…day to evening perfect.

Well finished seams/hems and how the garments drape – are hidden and obvious details--- we got backstage and saw the craft worthiness of the collection---

Reminds us that modern silhouettes and certain styles may crop out at the cheaper big box stores…but there’s a major compromise on quality there....and never ever a compromise on anything with Geren Ford.

Love this adorablecropped motorcycle---as easy to throw on as a sweatshirt---

California formal…ie jeans with fancy top and sandals…has competition.

Pleated and slim shorts that the not so skinny can wear.

The special touch…the long bows.

A terrific look...an uneven hemmed mini---with contrast grey stitching,

HAIR: We had a chance to chat with the Toni & Guy/TIGI folks backstage. “What

fashion is, translates into the hair.”

And viola: The Catwalk Collection.

The look for Geren Ford was smooth, sexy and silky hair.

Most used backstage prduct: ROCKAHOLIC “DIRTY SECRET” a dry shampoo.
