“IF LOVE IS A FLOWER”
New York Fashion Week—Chelsea Art District
Koi Suwannagate wisely engaged the Thai Trade Center, the Royal Thai Government and several luxury brands from that country ---as sponsors of her feminine twenty one look presentation.
THE COLLECTION:
Drop dead gorgeous.
Might as well get right to the point.
Original hand crafted finishes…like delicate embroidery, crotchet, and embellishments like organza lotus flowers, hand beading…
…and lovely trims (grosgrain ribbon at hems)…
...adorned elegant dresses and tops/skirts that were works of art in and of themselves...and fit right into the white walled gallery.
LOVELY CLOTHES-MODEL HAD HER EYES CLOSED EVERY SHOT WE TOOK
The Lotus flower was a theme, fragile and bold--- out of black cashmere and organza…
We always know Kuwannagate will use the finest materials…
And one of our favorites---a Thai weave Queen silk wrap dress with a lotus print and pleated trim ---is a perfect example of this young designers skill level.
Another top pick was the sheer chiffon blazer, with “The Love Of Koi” embroidered in Thai across the sleeves and back…over a black crinkle chiffon bra and hand dyed linen trousers.
Crinkled chiffon, romantically played in a stunning green gown with lemon lining, supported by a stretch mesh top.
We think this designer achieved the nearly impossible…embracing one’s heritage while putting forth a thoroughly modern collection. The trousers, blouses, shorts, and sharp shouldered jackets are urban friendly...and interchangeable with other dressy separates or high/low types who wear denim with everything. Us.
It is a tribute to designer- who had one of the most creative lines we saw---that all of the labels involved-Prinn Jewelry, Erb, Harnn, Gavang, Senada, Tête à Tête and Tango Shoes signed up…and contributed to a coffee table worthy book that attendees received.
