A huge brand in Europe, the Spanish label Camper aka the MO “REINVENT YOU REALITY” ===reminds us how a creative company is able to continuously re-invents itself… with fresh collaborations, crafted well.
The Spring 2010 samples we saw two weeks ago are fun kickers…and well priced (most we saw are in the $99-$150 range).
The core and special editions got us thinking sunny thoughts.
One of our favorite designers, Veronique Branquinho --- a Belgium native known for her modern, feminine garments….has turned out an innovative “pure line” leather upper tie shoe combined with fabric and a soft, multi-type heel...for guys.
Another designer, the Spanish Jaimie Hayon takes the classic espadrille to another level. The bold bright colors and the striped lining…so Spanish…
We love the side cut out and contrast raffia heel with the smooth leather.
The Gladiator is now a basic shoe design in our mind…and Bernhard Wilhelm, a designer known for his edgy menswear…gives the style a techno bent with tire rubber soles, lattice sturdy canvas velcro straps that climb up the leg,
and neat rope ties…a “simple” twist we found so innovative.
Dutch designer Hella Jongerius redesigns “typical Camper icons” ===meaning perky toned, well crafted shoes that make up their core collection..
Lifestyle sneaker models and leather slip ons with perforated uppers (IMAR) are spot on for today’s work to play ethos.
PLUS: Camper is all about being eco friendly in this line…as in no harmful glue is used in production,
CAMPER BARCELONA DESIGN CENTER:
Major bonus points go to Camper for this incubator of new talents---a creative and dynamic studio “created to bring new approaches to Camper.”
Our favorite style…is a peep toe soft leather textured pump in rich shades, with striking seam details. It’s made from one piece of leather too.
We also loved the soles of snazzy casual peds…see through rubber over cushioning. A good reason to put our feet up.
