JOLIBE- SPRING 2010

West 14th Street: New York Fashion Week

Around the corner from the major fashion week hub, Milk Studios…Ce Ce Studios Stage C -a huge space- enveloped a tightly edited “exhibition” of 14 looks by a new to us label Jolibe.

Designed by Joel Diaz, the collection was truly lovely and luxe…embellished with tasteful and intricate embroideries done by Afghan Hands.

The second floor room was pitch black except for a few carefully placed spot lights…which added to the drama of the presentation--- though not the quality of our photographs.

A pretty aqua blue … the color was taken from a stone found in Chile…made a chiffon dress, with crystallized Swarovski sparklers--- summery perfect. The architectural spaces --- and the underskirt made from a recycled army tent gave the whole ensemble airy, watery, and earthy vibes. This was our fav look...and Diaz' too, we asked.

A beautiful black silk with a gentle waves flows languidly down the front--- and a sage organza dress also caught our attention in a major way. So polished.

A sleeveless deco pattern jacquard knit dress reminded us of the best of sophisticated Italian knits that are timeless. Like Missioni.

Really well done…we hope to see more of this designer...and hope retailers took note as these frocks could easily fit into any contemporary designer boutique.
