The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation, an international organization dedicated to curing and preventing cancer via targeted, minimally toxic treatments--- had its yearly fabulous night of fun and fundraising on November 18th, 2010.

A sellout crowd enjoyed cocktails, really tasty food, top notch entertainment...and an overall good time. Yes, decent financial markets help with the overall dollar amounts raised...

but the promising research being funded--- research that includes preventive measures, the video testimonials of cancer survivors, of all ages who have personally been aided by "The Waxman"---

...Plus the overall optimism that's infectious, in a good way... got this crowd motivated to have a good time...and write big checks.

SWRCF's mission to eradicate cancer by "bridging the gap between lab science and the patient" is more than nearly $2 million on its way (our rough count)---  thanks to all of the proceeds from that night.

Gwen Darien, Exective Director (Cancer Survivor): Her first year with SWCRF finds exciting new collaborative research efforts being funded worldwide---

Dr. Samuel Waxman...the physician who has treated and given a lifeline to many. Gave a great speech relating SWCRF to investing in a dynamic growth fund- risks/big rewards... terms this crowd got.

Robert Palmer's Addicited to Love team...helped out with the Silent Auction. One concurred with us..."The more alcohol consumed, the bigger the bids...and sloppier the handwriting...it always happens." LOL

Well run/staffed event----kudos to Robin Lathrop/Event Planner---a bar at the front entrance too...

These guys rocked---and they all have "day jobs"---in finance.but tonight were Ms. Crow's opening act.

The Silent Auction items---Lots of fab dining opportunities, internships, gift certificates...

Sharon Blynn of Baldisbeautiful.org---a compassionate and very articulate woman who is all about encouraging, supporting, and empowering those undergoing treatments---helping others with the physical changes and spiritual challenges.

Board member Spencer Waxman and Bettina Waxman
SOLD OUT!!! 1400 tickets.

MIchael Nierenberg/Chairman of SWCRF (R):

A top lot: IMHO

This attendee signed away---good for him!
We could have just eaten these bar noshes and called it a meal...special thanks: Italian Wine Merchants

Speaking frankly, we totally agreed with the Chairman that NYC was a desired place to return to after a management meeting in NC (relief)...and that everyone in attendance is touched by cancer. No decoding necessary---wallets opened and people def. enjoyed themselves.

A masterful job by auctioneer C. Hugh Hildesley  for the Live Auction---keeping the flow---and earning top bids for top items. Gee--our fav. lot---this adorable King Cavalier Puppy commanded $8500---worth every penny.

Peter Tunney's--- painting expressing a sentiment shared by many...and FYI an online auction is active until Dec 1st, 2010@www.charitybuzz.com---with coveted Lots including Super Bowl tix, Dinners, Luxe Travel Opportunities and we we want---a One Day Golf School with Sean Hogan at david Leadbetter Golf Academy

The next generation of SWCRFers---clearly have excellent taste in music...rocking out to Sheryl Crow.
Love it---Ms. Crow did ask "is your dad single?"

FYI: A cancer survivor herself. Crow's remarks about her own diagnosis, treatment and support of SWRCF--- made it all the more real.
