Still abuzz from World Cup fever the invite to preview the ADIDAS Outdoor apparel collection---a major re-entry into this performance wear market...was highly anticipated!
When we walked into the exhibit area, we were wowed----there are over 110 SKUs available for men and women....in two categories-Mountain Sports----including the ubër TERREX collection for scaling the summits...
(FYI ascent/climb tough pieces designed in conjuction with Alex and Thomas Huber---two bros acclaimed for their speed and finesse at extreme alpine challenges...)
And Hiking and Trekking.
But first, we got a look at the kickers...including a bunch of water proof, lined with GORE-TEX® Performance Comfort membrane, outdoor specific FORMOTION™ ( an Adidas proprietary fabric blend that melds different types of tech functionalities depending----) midsoles for enhanced motion control and downhill comfort, and super grippy outsoles (TRAXION)---embedded in...
The top of the line TERREX TREK FM GTX $200, mid cut-$190...a light stable trekking shoe with added adPRENE® insert for comfort and shock absorption
---in the TERREX FAST X FM MID ($160) and ankle cut ($140) GTX SHOEs...
-and the very well priced ($100) AX 1 MID GTX´SHOE with a waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX® lining, a midsole sockliner for added comfort, super high traction rubber outsole and lightweight EVA midsole for long term cushioning.
There's also a line-up of rather stylish looking, breathable uppers' boat and water shoes ---that really are multi-functional...with the TRAXION® outsole for gripping slippery surfaces. Plus---the SPEED BOAT + BOAT CC LACE have drainage systems.
OUTERWEAR:
Bold colors with the neutral toned basics dominated the performance wear pieces that we have no doubt, will be carried by all the major outdoor retailers and specialty stores.
Rugged wind and waterproof in lightweight shells ---TERREX FEATHER JACKET GORE-TEX® PRO SHELL ($495) with ventilation zips and the packable TERREX JACKET GORE-TEX® ACTIVE SHELL($395) ....are the premium selections for wind and waterproof breathability with stretch (FORMOTION™) and adjustable helmet compatible hoods ...
Women also get a TERREX JACKET with the WINDSTOPPER® soft shell fabric ($295) and a versatile TERREX HYBRID JACKET WINDSTOPPER® ACTIVE SHELL($200)- with a hybrid construction that packs up performance wear fabrics tailored to respective body zones.
We like the warmth of down jackets ---and ADIDAS had mixed down and hybrid jacket models.
On our list the HIKING 3-in 1 CLIMAPROOF Storm Down Jacket ($300) with a 2 way CLIMAPROOF STORM outer shell ---that's windproof/waterproof breathable---with a detachable Filipower 600 down jacket that can be worn on its own. With a hood too. NICE.
Performance fleece options with CLIMAWARM™ thermal insulation made of POLARTEC® or brushed fleece---in jackets and vests...
AND performance pants made of techy fabrics like the water resistant NANO-TEX, CLIMAPROOF WIND® and CLIMAWARM®---two way stretch etc.
A lot of options---seperates we think can multi-task for everyday use.
