The Inn at Irving Place, NYC

Editor's Preview-Words/Images Judith Ecochard

A more gentile setting for the preview of Radley London's collection of handbags, carryalls...etc. probably does not exist...

And while some classics, are just that, classics that never change, we venture to say that Radley London is really evolving as a leather goods brand for modern women...

=====with a taste for the durable/practical haulers...as well as wanting some fun accessories with pops of colors, stylish shapes and interesting, top quality materials. Like the newly married Princess- Kate Middleton---that kind of style. Who doesn't like that?

HIGHLIGHTS

Given the amount of Rose Gold hardware we have seen this season (and next)-in watches and jewelry-we were surprised that we haven't seen much of this tone on handbag hardware.

But we do here---in the Hanover collection, a playful twist on the classic quilted bag.

Structured bags---a fashionable nod to the 50's/60's--- well done---in the lady-like D'Arblay collection---in leather and patent.

Note-the vintage flavored jacquard lining...

Chain straps...and a fab spackle finish.

The Canonbury assortment takes the reins from equestrian details---with brass turn lock closures. We love the silhouettes available---a crossbody, tote, and of course, a saddle bag...and btw, the leather is superb---of horseback riding- saddle quality...

Grosvenor handbags are the bedrock of Radley London. For the upcoming season there are new totes, shoulder bags and clutches in brown patent, black, green and tan colors.
Leather is buttery plush soft. Unique to Radley, London...at great prices

Ready for another century---the Bloomsbury group with padded laptop friendly compartments...in totes and in a cross body.

The Bohemia collection has terrific prints sourced from the Victoria and Albert Museum---here Champagne Bubbles and William Morris prints---with details hand painted.

Matching accessories and small leather goods too.

And for the hippy haute---the fringe filled Compton range----oversized hobo slouch, crossbody, and tote----in plush leather and moc croc.

Love the braid detail on the side...with the dog logo---of course.

Unusual and it works...the painted blue Hutchinson with gold kiss stitching.

Our pick:--a structured bag---full of inner compartments---fits just right on our shoulder too.

FYI: Prices range from just under $100 for accessories-topping out at low $500's for the super larger haulers ---a sweetspot for what we would consider comparable to other contemporary/luxury bags. And better---no initials all over that aren't yours.
