IBS Beauty Tradeshow New York: Highlights

Javits Convention Center/Midtown Manhattan, NYC

Part 2

The IBS Beauty Tradeshow was packed on the last day. We had little time--- but noticed that there were several types of people who go to this show...

Beauty school students, salon owners, hair stylists  hauling oversized bags jammed with products...

We loved how one could demo a lot---including the latest spa treatments and "furniture."

Hair wise, Argan Oil---featured in Morrocanoil® and Agadir™ hair treatment products...and Brazilian Keratin treatments---offered by several brands---seemed to be the popular 'it'.

The trend of make-up as treatment product---is also big-here nicely packaged in the conceal as you heal, Boo Boo Cover Up- infused with anti-radical busting green tea and vitamin E--- and soothing chamomile and aloe. AND fyi---use on legs, too for summer styles. Anti-irritant, anti-bacterial, it can hide irritated skin conditions-like insect bites and eczema.

Stila Cosmetics showed the hottest Spring Summer color-coral...and beautiful bronzers...

A few blocks away, an anti-aging confab featured several brands that are launching here.

Most interesting to us is EnvyDerm---a small California based company with a eyelash growth and conditioning serum. We remember a discussion we had with the gals from LashDip ---the semi permanent mascara treatment awhiles back...where they commented on how they felt Latisse treated lashes were okay but they preferred alternative conditioning/growth serums-boasting formulas with  a peptide in them to really work. (They liked Miss Oops Ridiculously Long Lashes $38, btw)

SO that was the first question  to Nadia Smith, President and Founder of EnvyDerm---who explained to us that the "active natural ingredients such as bioavailable lipo-oligopeptides"---and a powerful "SymPeptide technology" including  "Myristol pentapeptide-17"---both stimulate keratin genes, add volume, and lengthens/strengthens natural lashes. Plus---vitamins (C, D, E, & K), minerals and amino acids to moisture and nourish.

Retailing for $99.95, the EnvyDerm is applied like liquid eyeliner---similar to other eyelash enhancement treatments on the market.

We liked this product...a lot. Check out the website for the brand's own study.

From Japan, Rice Force debuted a collection of skin care products (Make Up Remover, Mild Face Wash, Deep Moisture Lotion, Deep Moisture Essence, Deep Moisture Cream and UV Protect Milk)...based on a rice formula extract derived from a sake brewery.

The benefits of rice power extract mixed with aspergillus and yeast, and lactobacillus---and then allowed to ferment---resulting in this collection of deeply moisturizing products---reminded us of the science behind the upscale and Proctor and Gamble owned brand SK II who has the glam Cate Blanchett as spokesperson.

Another international brand at this showcase, BABOR, is actually an enormous German assortment of makeup/skincare/treatment products--- founded in 1955 by a German doctor. We only briefly got acquainted with a handful of their offerings.

Impressed with the packaging---we only sampled a tad of what Babor --- the new BODY LINE THERMAL skin care products featuring the famous healing. Aachen Thermal Spring Water as an ingredient- and the GOLD SYSTEM of sensitive facial treatment products. Note to self---a line we want to learn more about when we go to Berlin.
