Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, NYC
Fabrics...airy chiffons, stunning silks charmeuse, crepes, velvets...and lightweight shimmery metallics--- perfectly draped for one shoulder drama...the kind of dresses that always end up on some print reads "BEST OF..." layout.
The added use of hoods---to keep the chill at bay...framed the models faces as well as a pair of earrings.
Flattering jumpsuits---maybe for the tall and slim---but still a tasteful option

Always a festive, always a party atmosphere greets attendees of Carlos Miele's RTW shows.
For Fall 2011, we felt maybe a slightly more sardonic tone was set-perhaps signally a change in design MO---
---what with---and we had to chuckle--- the Grateful Dead's "disco ditty" Shakedown Street
Setting the beat for the models to march down the runway.
Brother this town ain't got no heart---irony????
Also a change---the teenage blogger/former tv star---in his front row perch, nursed by his barely older then he---publicist. An attempt for younger consumers...?
And we could see why---as influential as celebs are to the under 30 crowd's choice of a Red Carpet label.
Black crepe short jacket with beaded detail, off white silk charmeuse blouse, black velvet saruel pants |
Miele gave a modern twist to a glam night out--- with the terrific separate evening pieces
That accompanied the fab, and we mean really fab---dramatic flowing evening gowns.
Pale rose velvet with silk chiffon detail |
Nude silk charmeuse dress with terrific beaded detail |
Colors had soft and boldly vibrant tropical hues...
Graphic stripe knitted top with fuchsia silk pajama pants |
The craftsmanship of the shoulder braid detail---well done chartreuse silk charmeuse dress |
love how the side detail is in the same bold purple as the sash of this Oscar worthy Goddess Gown |
Prints were from digital satellite images...
