PARKCHOONMOO “d’AIR” Spring/Summer 2011

EXIT ART SPACE, NYC

International fashion designer, Choonmoo Park was a revelation for us. As in we texted our colleagues to check her out---we thought her Spring/Summer 2011 RTW efforts, fantastic.

Architectural, fluid, edgy, wearable…all adjectives that fit the bill…of this collection inspired by a “…

reinterpretation of air in its purity and light…”

Sheer modern tank dresses and translucent separates (tees, vests, blazers, jumpsuits) were the standouts…

...with flowing hemlines, seamed panel blocks===

===giving shape to mostly long, lean silhouettes…made of cotton and silk…

...and a few knits.

… That even when ankle length, allowed the models to easily walk the walk.

A moon lit palette dominated - white, silver/gray…accented with black piping

--- and some judicious use of sequins.

Very feminine with a touch of menswear sensibility ---lack of needless frills, smart tailoring.

We thought a nod to minimalists masters that knew how to cut angles---- like Helmut Lang, and Antwerp’s Jil Sander and Anne Demeulemeester--- with an Asian sensibility.

FYI: CHOOMOO PARK has been designing clothes since 1988, and is very popular and accolade heavy---- in her native Korea.
