SALOMON FALL 2011 Footwear/Apparel

Outdoor Retailer, SLC

“Everything we make is for moving up a mountain…task accomplishment.”

SPEEDCROSS 3 CS $135 Winte Racing shoe with Climashield™ design-anti-debris mesh

Sounds as good a company’s mission statement as any we have heard.

At OR, one could spend the entire time just going over all the hard/soft goods that Salomon offers.

S-LAB 4 XT -non marking Running Contragrip®/EVA midsoles, OrthoLite® sockliner

Some highlights we caught…

Climashiled™ is a patent pending technology in a  membrane with complete waterproof capabilities.

With this in mind, Salomon’s approach to its winter running shoes is to waterproof the front/tongue of the shoe with Climashield™---with the back completely breathable. This ends up having the shoe offering a lot of flex…in a lightweight kicker that drives super fast.

Examples of this---are in the XR CROSS MAX CS ($140)---in versions for pronaters and neutral type runners.

We also admired the S-LAB 40 XT WINGS ($160) ---a lightweight trail runner with an “awesome” fit (with Sensifit™ and Quicklace™) ---a protective toe guard and mud flap too.

Sports recovery shoes ---actually are catching on in the wellness category of footwear. We are firm believers in the benefits of “the energy is in the shoe.”...

Adopted by the American Podiatry Association,,,we saw the Salomon RX Break and the Snow Moc----

There’s a special heel cuff-shaped into the footbed ---that enables the kicker to “spring into action…so the energy is not dispensed into the ground with each step, but returned to the foot.

In the après ski---or boppin’ around town category---the pull on MOXIE ($125) an 100% waterproof that can be worn 3 ways…

Also in this category of waterproof warmth---the Luxy Big Fur ($140) …the UMA Trois (with a zip now-$145)…

And the EMMA ($150 –mixed textiles, thinsulate warm ---women specific lasts and contragrip sole.

climaPRO™ Storm fabric for outstanding weather protection, and separates with Gore-Tex Pro Shell-a light durable face fabric that’s waterproof, windproof and breathable…got the big buzz.

Stretchy/breathable/active fit

We were excited by the Whisper technology fabrics used in the trail running items.
And light packable windblocking apparel for the ultimate warmth (with Pertex Quantum® shell material and  Down Insulation)

PLUS: Mid layer comfort with Primaloft---DWR finish…
