CACHÉ held its media preview a few weeks back...and for us it was a first...in that we have heard of the brand---and had a vague idea that the on-trend label, that started with one store in the 1980's--- was known for it's dresses---as in dress-up ones for evenings, special occasions, and proms (depending on a gal's age)...
What we learned was that the company has stores across America...that it's stronghold of 30-50 years old women...
... is now broadened to include younger females..." ...for 20 somethings used to raiding their mom's closet"
PLUS: now making a full-fledged line of sportswear, blouses/skirts/trousers, denim, dresses, accessories, and work-ready clothes.
"You will not mistake Caché for other 'heritage brands'..." we were told by the super smart merchandise/marketing women that showed us the collection set for deliveries beginning the Fall 2011.
Indeed...there are wwwaaaayyyyy more embellishments, more ornate details and a variety of fabrics and finishes in the apparel mix.
We thought the many tapered silhouettes--- and trims/design elements very eye-catching---and all very flattering/thoughtfully--- made to make women look beautiful...
Examples include exactly where a ruffle hits on a skirt---a top-belted, a tunic/mini softly draped...so a gal doesn't look hippy. This is a fine art---and something we see a lot of labels missing because maybe-they don't try it all out on fit models?
There is a balance of glitzy...as in wearing the separates -separately----
WITH more conservative items...with a fashiony twist-never boring.
Take this amazing jacket that is ---as one PR guy exclaimed "Madonna in the Boardroom."
Our favorite was this flattering take on the natty nautical...that manages to use encased horizontal stripes in a way that does not add pounds with clever curves---sharp.
Fake fur vest ($178) is fun and now a wardrobe staple for cooler temps.
details---hammered studs on a plush leather satchel...the leather laced legs on these pants...
Prices for apparel are typically $80-$400.
Their new stores on 1144 Third Avenue and Columbus Circle in Manahttan----herald a "modern take" on contemporary classic designs that's typical of what Caché represents on many levels.
