Sophisticated edge---
In the Maisonette 1977 Fall 2011 collection for women---- by the completely new to us Hong Kong native, Johns Hopkins and Parsons grad, New York based designer Jane Ibrahim-(previous toiler at Michael Kors, Yigal Azourel, Theory, Oscar by Oscar de la Renta, Bill Blass New York, Cynthia Steffe)...
IN
The Make-up by Kate Squires for Napoleon Perdis...
IN
The Hair by Seiji and Cutler...
IN
and Nails by Zoya.
We thought at first, knowing zilch about the designer...that she was Indonesian...but as soon as we saw the clothes, we thought very Parisian trendster urban chic mixed in with that downtown elegant grunge vibe that those Gossip Girls would look amazing in...
A label we could seriously love.
The clothes we saw were super well done, elegant drapes, multi-zippered leathers with a grrrlllll spirit that Ibrahim's mom wore a jacket---and wore to perfection (meaning trend-on style DONE RIGHT- is ageless)...
And dramatic used of mixed textures.
That we actually hung around for the Lookbook pics taking place backstage prior to the RTW show...after we got all our make-up/hair/nail info.
The models rocked their looks...
AS INSTRUCTED.
As usual at a Napoleon Perdis orchestrated fete...faces were prepped with hydrating, tri-peptides and plant based Napoleon Complex Skin Renewal Serum...a soothing cocktail for all gals-paraben free and no synthetic dyes either.
Boudoir Mist foundation was sprayed on for a flawless palette...with cheekbones made more angular with the help of Cheek to Chic Blush Duo 6.
The darkened eyes really gave the make-up edge...structured shape the MO..."not the natural contours"----so deep browns, blacks and pewters via Color Disc Queen of the Night and Bronze Age (lids), Color Disc Trench Coat brushed to the bridge of the nose and socket, Color DIsc Skinny DIp (Brow Bone) and eyes dramatically lined with the workhorse China Doll Gel Eyeliner Equinox...with fluttery eyelashes bedecked in Mesmer-Eyes.
Designed purposely to look fab on all skin tones.
Plus--- the eyebrow itself was dabbed with foundation to "get rid of the brow"---and put "focus on the wearable eye."
No lip liner was used...just DeVine Goddess Lipstick Lianna.
We think this look translates to lighter Spring make-up wants---as black, taupe, brown mixed in with bronze or gold on the eye lids---is season-less, depending on the translucent nature of the products used. Kate Squires suggested a light touch herself..."taupe to soften it up"
---- and a bit of shiny coral/apricot on the lips for a fresh look NOW.
The Hair was a simple blow dry with some wave and side parts...and the nails were painted in a wonderful DOVE gray----a nice "soft wearable shade' with a modern twist...part of Zoya's Intimate Collection for Spring 2011...
...as explained to us by Erin Giddings, the media go -to gal at the fashion oriented Art of Beauty company makers of Zoya nail polishes-with over 300 shades NOT INCLUDING their custom blend for Marc Jacob's RTW show, Hot Lips lipgloss, and ancillary nail products.
That also includes our fav green "Gemma"...a shade that gets compliments from manicurists too.
Short rounded nails are the shape for these cool colors...that are purposely conjured up, FYI---to work with many skin tones too.
We love the shape of the Italian glass bottle---very feminine...AND
How eco minded Zoya is---this line is vegan, and the polish is long lasting...
and FREE of all that crap like formaldehyde, toluene, dibutyl phthalate and camphor.
