Tia Cibani’s Ports 1961 is a luxe modern women’s fashion brand that doesn’t follow the slavish trends…
We thought about this as we always manage to find something to toss on--- with a Ports 1961 hang tag…and it always gives whatever we are wearing (denim, leggings…) a polished look that's pulled together.
Saying that the Fall 2010 RTW outing is full of must have classics is a bit misleading as the textiles and fabric combinations )largely neutral tones), embellishments are exceptional...
PLUS ruching/tailoring/draping techniques used are cutting edge…
detail of above leather/stretch jacket=stunning
Yet the silhouettes are timeless and versatile.
geometric side panels, echo pocket shapes and are eye catching/slimming
Ports 1961 is also a label that women can wear without stressing whether they would look good in the clothes if they dropped the last 10 pounds. But that figures, it’s designed by a working mom.
We followed up on the packed as always runway show--- with two showroom visits.
The first jaunt is an eye opener…as the entire collection is enormous!!
We racked through the racks and eagle eyed the pieces we loved…
polished leather/wool coat-a streamlined silhouette that's warm
Interestingly enough, about half were in the runway show…
But getting that close-up view of the separates…had us thinking…okay this is why these clothes will never really be part of a look for less column…it’s impossible.
The fabrics are something…unique to the label…and as visually interesting as artwork.
Neoprene and tulle netting, metallic polyester creations, leather trims, refined wools, knubby knits, and buttery leathers…
