Automne-Hiver 2010 for the French label Façonnable is full of genuinely posh contemporary daywear for work, and polished, ‘preppy’ casual attire …that reflects its bon vivant Mediterranean heritage.

We are vaguely reminded of Brooks Brothers (or more so the Brooks Brothers we grew up with…) but Façonnable oozes Euro sophistication that’s authentic, not manufactured.

Entering the sun filled, French oak paneled showroom overlooking Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue, the press preview began with glimpses of the new “Rugby Polo Collection”---

based on the signature stripes and patterns of the dapper Façonnable tie collection.

Made of quality, touchable cotton…we think women are going to be buying up the small sizes!

Other men’s highlights included outerwear pieces---like a suede jacket, pea coat and trench that are really impeccably made…and the suits that are fully lined---and lay just so as the finishes are top notch.

The button down shirts are the hallmarks of the brand. (MSRP range $135-$175)

Façonnable’s expertise is evident in the high quality of the fabrics/finishes including Italian cotton, mother-of-pearl buttons and the smart tailoring with flawless workmanship …all with a dose of French flair …like contrasting collars, clever style/ print/woven stripped combos that are the essence of French Riviera charm…(over 1000 different options!!!).

Women's too

Divided into five distinct lines…the classic, sportswear, jeans (using washed fabrics), special, and the refined “Atelier.” Façonnable shirts are all eminently wearable and can handsomely make an outfit on its own, look perfect under a blazer, or are upscale enough for the most formal occasions.

For the ladies, refreshed classics with modern styling in fabrics like lightweight wool suits, double faced cashmeres, stretch flannels, soft cotton, and leather…as well as feathery silk chiffon, Crepe de Chine evening dresses and slinky cocktail jersey frocks…and key suede and tweed outer wear pieces...offer a complete lineup.
