Winnipeg born, Footwear Designer/Retailer and Raconteur par excellence---Ron White showed assorted NYC media types that yes, it is possible to wear glam looking heels ---and walked the city streets without wincing.
Carving a decided needed niche for himself in the luxury comfort business via his stores in Canada...we think Mr. White one ups Cole Haan in terms of style and wearability---and now all footwear by this super nice guy--- is available in the USA now.
We chatted quite a bit with White---and learned he had a background in orthotics-biomechanics...and did a whole lotta homework in Italy---to research factories for his carefully constructed shoe collections: the Ron White ALL DAY HEELS® and the red carpet worthy Ron White SIGNATURE Collection---the latter with a lot of hand details and trims.
A couple of note worthy items we learned----
_All the heels are super flexible...with Vibram® (the go to outsole maker for just about the entire performance footwear industry, including lug soles that grip in the freezing icy Great White North---and makers of the barefoot style FiveFingers® running shoe)---mixing up an ultra wafer -thin rubber outsole just for him.
_The techy materials include NASA invented PORON ---that provides comfy compressive support---and breathable microfiber that is shock absorbing---and amazingly in the boot samples we saw---looks like suede/leather----plus use of waterproof suede/leather---all fused with luxury materials like the metallic finished suede that's actually porous/wicking and chic..
_The platform in the heels of many styles reduces the pitch-the angle of one's foot...for easier struttin.'
_Many of the soles in the collection are actually waterproof!!!!!---but look like leather.
Fashion meets function never looked as good as the couture like Signature group....that boasts a lot of artisan details...like hand made bows.
Six eponymous boutiques, Arthur Berens-San Fran & e-commerce---and Lord & Taylor's carry the Fall 2011 selection with prices range from the high $300's-$1000.
