“Confident women” was the mantra for Thuy Diep’s
runway show for Fall 2010.

The backstage scene was packed for this New York based fashion designer. Thuy has had a somewhat under the radar career ---we’ve been following for awhile…but seems to have made the leap into wide commercial acceptance with this exquisite outing.

While if often takes a Michelle Obama nod to “nationalize” a label, we think retailers noticed right away the stunning jewel tone fabrics, modern prints with strong graphics, --- some made glistening with sponsor Swarovski crystals...

The silhouettes are for the sophisticated lady. Thuy is a master at how textile drapes…her cleverly edgy, architectural garments are finely sewn together, and the intricate hem details---really set a Thuy design apart from other high end, more “simple” designers.

Silvery stacked platform pumps gave legs a forever feel

Cropped jackets with angled pockets, cinched waists highlighting elegant day to night dresses, and skirt/blouses combos, are truly works of art. (For the complete runway click here for link to Thuy’s site).

We had a chance to chat with Rodney Cutler  and his team of specialists in charge of the hair…who used a combo of Redken Guts 10 Volume Spray Foam and Workforce 9 and Cutler’s Volumizing Spray while flat ironing the models’ locks. For the height that translate “from the catwalk to the sidewalk”----stylists backcomb at the roots for a “fresh, young” look.

The makeup was lead by Make Up For Ever Alliance team member Lottie as the key artist. Models faces really looked amazing…

...and we noted how the new bronze blushes (Mat Bronze #3m Mat Bronze #6) looked great with the gold base Star Powder #920 and #957, and shimmery coral Diamond Shadow #305 on the eyes.

Lips were neutral, stained with a red tinge via Flash Color #1 and #17.

Nails got glossy with fabulous Zoya Professional Nail Lacquers…known as the “longest lasting natural nail polish on the market. With over 300 (that’s right) colors in the collection…Thuy’s show had talons painted in “Evangeline” …

We were not familiar with Zoya, but found out this extensive nail polish and lip gloss brand was founded by Zoya and Michael Reyzis in 1986, owners of the Art of Beauty nail salon. What got to us was the long wearing claim…AND the formulas are all formaldehyde, toluene, dibutyl phthalate and camphor FREE…and are Vegan friendly.
