Domenico Vacca -reasons to be cheerful-stunning "Julie" handbag inspires... |
|
Julie handbag-a bestseller since 2002 |
Truth be told, we rarely spend time in the 10021 zip code-it is just not really part of our life....
|
plush leather interior-can be customized, color wise |
|
Julie Vacca-with her namesake satchel in croc X-large size |
BUT this past week we were inspired to venture forth ---because, for one thing, one of our favorite Italian luxury fashion designers---
DOMENICO VACCO, acclaimed for his elegant, exacting and modern bespoke collections for men and women...AND also purveying exquisite RTW, denim/sportswear, and accessories offerings....
|
limited edition- hand carved by crystal artisans in Slovenia-in an alligator design on the crystal itself |
...debuted the
Domenico Vacca Home Crystal Collection for Rogaska Crystal...at his posh Madison Avenue boutique.
Inspired by the label's iconic "Julie" handbag ---the appropriately coined "The Julie Collection" features glassware, an ice bucket, votive, decanter and vases for its first launch-set to deliver in June 2012.

Goblets, wine glasses, flutes, highballs, shot glasses priced $75-$150 apiece |
Truly the pièce de resistance---the Domenico Vacca Julie Gold Large Vase-pictured above....($5000)
We had a quick chat with the dapper Mr. Vacca himself-who told us that the wonderful collaboration took the one year - with the Slovenia based, 350 years old, Rogaska Glassworks---and how well it synchs up with the lifestyle products of his own namesake brand.
We also learned that the gorgeous Julie handbag, on average, takes four month to make----and is available in many materials include shiny patent leather -as well as exotic skins.
INFO:
http://www.steklarna-rogaska.si/en Rogaska Crystal-is sold in high end department stores, specialty stores and independent retailers.
Domenico Vacca---for e-commerce, collection information.
A few blocks away on Park and 58th, we entered a packed to the gils Maison 24, a housewares/home decor retail emporium of carefully curated items-somewhat like Barney's Chelsea Passage---
With loads of attitude...including page turning coffee table tableaus, skull motifs on lots of merch... fun vintage items- and modern day whimsical items ...nothing too precious, either.
The invite was to see the exclusive in the USA-wide ranging lifestyle collection of London native, Central St. Martin's grad...
Rory Dobner's ... open till December, shop in shop.
We chatted with one of the owners, Louis Marra (Allison Julius is the other)---who seemed a tad overwhelmed with joy-why not? ----at the fab reception of invited guests....to his and Allison's launch party---courtesy of a serendipitous London discovery of Rory Dobner's very English, somewhat modern day Aubrey Beardsley goth/clever graphic illustrations adorning elegant bone china, everyday mugs, throw pillows, candles and canvases etc...in a London shop.
