Rising star designer Marcel Ostertag labeled his S/S 2011 collection “I Love To Hate You”---in homage, no doubt, to the bouncy 1991 dance hit by Erasure...that the models romped the runway to.

The bold use of color was an early theme that stood out… as the RTW show was divided by tonal groups. Berlin never has run of shows (annoying) and this collection was long (by NY standards)...

We loved the perky pinks, and orange…

Yet there was editorial cohesiveness…that the German Heidi Klum would most likely have uttered “you’re in.”

Obvious tailoring talent was on display, particularly with Ostertag's use of ruched /ruffled chiffon…sometimes as decorative flowers, other times as texture to enrich/enliven classic silhouettes )the above, leg-of-mutton type sleeves)---making the urbane ensembles more interesting---feminine and delicate.

Plus-a linear element defined by geometric seams that gave separates polished appeal and fit the models really well.

Sumptuous, subtly layered in day light to lights out separates…dominated all the ensembles.

A solid chocolate brown found its way on many fabrics--- in shiny silks, and sequin, and sheer fabrics gently flowing ---

...Left us with the impression that this collection is also utterly wearable---we loved the two long fluttery pleated gown…one of the few long boho touches we saw this season…compared to last.

And wearability, BTW---  is something to be noted----as half of the looks we saw here in Berin, were definitely “concepts.”
