UPCYCLED Trends-Food, Wraps

Upcycled ingredients-re-purposed for eating-is common amongst professional chefs and everyday home cooks.

That means -for example, taking parts of fruits/vegetables that were usually tossed-like stalks, cores, peels-and using them to make other eats-soups, purées etc.

A new(ish) standout:

Brooklyn based-RISE Craft Flour-is a byproduct of nearby beer making (makers)...using the spent grains from breweries (byproduct of the first stage of beer making=malt barley) as the base of a true versatile flour that's naturally high in fiber/protein and less carbs-than the regular kind. VERY COOL
Available ONLINE

RISE Craft Flour can be used interchangeably as flour in recipes-like pizza+ pie crusts, crackers and sweets. The dark flour-comes courtesy of stout, fyi-great for brownies. The light version -from IPA and Pilsner. Recipes online.
Rejected Potato Produce:
Kettle Cooked-non-GMO UGLIES Potato Chips...are crispy-greasy enough in a good way. Honestly since most potato chips can get a little crushed in a bag anyway---Uglies Potato Chips in our fav Original Sea Salt---taste as good as any-but with a better MO! 26% of US produce gets discarded ---this seems like an idea that needs to catch on. Looks wise-a few dark spots and edges...barely a difference.

Better Than Plastic Wrap:

Z Wraps is a clingy-waxy-ish malleable food wrap that can be re-used and washed multiple times-up to 18 months. AND in pretty prints too-make it  gift worthy--as in wrap a homemade bread or jam in these-instead of disposable wrapping paper.
Currently sold at Sur La Table and online...Z Wraps is made from beeswax (and 100% cotton,  organic jojoba oil+tree resin)-so not sure if this product is vegan  -but it is def better solution to plastic wrap imo. Available in multiple sizes S-XL
multi-packs or individually from $7.95 +
