125 Fifth Avenue @20th Street-NYC
A welcoming clean, industrial design- with warm wood soft edges (aka- relaxed luxury)-the latest full service, haircare salon in the Warren-Tricomi franchise delivers high end hair/brow services in a neighborhood that is both a bubbling residential, office and after-hours destination.
Located on the edge of Chelsea---in the Flatiron district (in homage to the distinct architecture of this increasingly hip 'hood)-this second floor, head to toe beauty emporium-( Skinney MedSpa shares the loft like space)- caters to the needs-and hours- of those humans in the area-who, like us…are great admirers of the distinctive dry cutting techniques of Ed Tricomi…and hair color expertise of partner Joel Warren.
In fact, we still dream about our best haircut ever…which we got a few years back at the glam Warren-Tricomi- Plaza Hotel locale- one of eight W-T salons- that's been open for several years now.
So-although we are fairly phobic about anyone taking a scissor to our long tresses, we knew WITHOUT QUESTION- we'd be happy with the results.
And courtesy of experienced stylist, Tom- we were once again reminded why women loyally flock to Warren-Tricomi for cuts and blow-outs-always…as this Tricomi trained talent, trimmed our washed, then dried hair- at a tiny tiny angle-a kind of modified blunt cut-with angled front pieces-that perfectly framed our face and added subtle volume to our straight-ish locks-plus wielding two rounded barrel brushes-that managed to deliver those coveted Gisele-like beachy waves, with a bit of height.
IMO: Unless one is an octopus, it's practically impossible to replicate this sensuously polished hairstyle on one's own. In fact, Tom was a very coveted stylist at the Warren-Tricomi Greenwich Ct. locale, where some clients visited the salon several times a week for his blow-drying expertise.
Well lucky us, he transferred to this light filled destination, designed by architecture firm Sj2a.
WHAT ELSE-a brow bar that was busy busy busy when we were there-shelves stocked with cult favs like Grande Lash, a lash enhancing treatment we discovered last year, top notch L'Oreal Professionnel products and the constantly selling out, gray hair in-between powder...Color Wow.
Bonus Points…our chat with the congenial manager Andrew Gulloti…who emphasized how much of a neighborhood salon this Warren-Tricomi Flatiron locale is…with accommodating hours that reflect the hours of the area= a 10AM open- to 8PM close time, a few days a week- or later, if need be to accommodate clients. Nice.
Another plus: online booking.
