Chelsea Piers, NYC
There was a lot to celebrate at the annual gala of two hands - on effective non-profits
…Serving Families in Need…
|
Red Carpet-(l-r) Allan Ellinger, Daisy Fuentes, Kevin Burke, Denise WIlliams, Vivica A. Fox |
A merger announcement (apparently months and months in the works) of the honorable foundations
Fashion Delivers and
K.I.D.S. that both mobilize the fashion/footwear/accessories/home goods companies to donate-and then deliver the NEW merchandise to communities in need...
|
Honorees with Daisy Fuentes (l-r) Robert Campbell, Kevin Burke, Brendan Hoffman, Peter H. Comisar |
…AND the astounding amount of
$1 BILLION (that's right-with a "B")-of donated goods to kids (hence the
Kids
In
Distressed
Situations) -and their guardians too, since its founding in 1985…just two of the highlight announcements.
|
earrings are gorgeous…hey, it was a fashion event-so we notice! |
On hand to deliver words of congratulations, Gala Co-Chairs Kevin Burke Chairman of K.I.D.S. and Allan Ellinger, Chairman of Fashion Delivers, members of the gala committee including Karen Bromley of TBG Group and Denise Williams of K.I.D.S., and honorees Brendan Hoffman, Pres. and CEO The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc., Peter Comisar, Vice Chairman of Guggenheim Partners, Robert Campbell, Chair and CEO of BBC International, Inc. and Daisy Fuentes, fashion entrepreneur and TV personality.
|
Diasy Fuentes =flawless-waist belted, tea length-capped sleeve, black lace frock- overlay nude silk- with sheer black sweetheart neckline |
The setting was perfect, the Chelsea Piers Pier 60 event space overlooking the Hudson River-with a cocktail reception greeting guests-including no-lines open bars (yes!), passed bites and a buffet of indulge yourself dishes---contributing to a relaxed mid-week, after-work affair, celebrating the hard work and heroic volunteer efforts of these two entities, especially given the most recent weather related disasters-Hurricane Sandy, Midwest tornadoes, and Colorado floods.
|
Karen Bromley -gets a smooch from TV personality, Robert. |
Host for the evening was the statuesque Vivica A. Fox -a mega-talented actress and television producer who we personally LOVED in the hit comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm. A commanding stage presence, Ms. Fox could tackle Shakespeare as well as the rumba (Dancing With The Stars) and has stared in many feature films and television shows. Naturally we asked 'who' she was wearing----"Alexander McQueen."
|
cocktails…and food stations-ending with dessert |
|
Mac n" Cheese-yummy |
|
Adrienne Bailon |
Also on the Red Carpet-Actress/Singer Adrienne Bailon---who was wearing an Aiden Mattox gown --- topped with a terrific up-do and an Instagram worthy manicure that she told us, took about an hour. Fabulous.
|
This updo for short hair deserves Allure mag. mention. Created by Vanity Salon owner Anthony Cimdo the messy (in a good way) modern chignon-is a double pony tail (up/down) twisted and wrapped around- and pinned, pinned pinned -with front pieces pulled out-framed face perfectly. |
|
Manicure by Claristza Martinez…on created to show off nail art, Instagram: funkynailpolishbyclaritza |
|
John Bartlett-menswear designer-we chatted about how nice Milwaukee is-super art museum, swimmable lake front, and a great host town for the National Triathlon Championships |
Other guests we knew from fashion jaunts-the congenial John Bartlett-currently designing a
menswear collection for accessibly priced
Bon-Ton stores.
FYI-for NYC types-this department store chain, headquartered in Milwaukee- has
open year round (except Thanksgiving) retail locations throughout the northeast, mid-Atlantic, midwest, and mountain states…PLUS of course, e-commerce.
|
Nick Graham |
Nick Graham-is a front row staple at NYFW---and from Calgary- as we found out later- which might explain why this friendly guy is so popular -who doesn't like Canadians (?!?),
really. Next meet-up we talk our fav sport, hockey.
|
Nick Graham-center-with colleagues nattily attired in matching pocket handkerchiefs. NICE. |
As founder and CUO (Chief Underpants Officer) of the "Joe Boxer label, this entrepreneur is channeling his fashion flair and business smarts towards an online only, new menswear label-launching in December.
Dubbed "Nick Graham" appropriately enough. We asked what inspired his visual design choices---"dogs and skulls…"
|
est. 1265----hmmmm |
|
We had a Vivienne Tam moment with this guest-looked amazing in a bold b/w animal print trench over a solid red -orange tinged dress and color block stripy sandals. InStyle magazine worthy. |
|
packed-over 800 guests |
|
BRAVO!!!! |
