BONUS POINTS: IN OUR INBOX
BAFFIN is a proud supporter of
the Walking with the Wounded Allied Challenge, outfitting 6 injured servicemen as they race across the South Pole this
November 2013. The Walking with the Wounded team includes five amputees and a serving soldier with post-traumatic
stress disorder (PTSD). Prince Harry, who took part in Walking with the Wounded 2011, will take part in the trip to Antarctica
this fall as a member of team Team Glenfiddich.
The WWTW Allied Challenge funds the re-training and re-education of servicemen and women, both veterans and those
leaving the Armed forces, through undertaking inspirational expeditions and demonstrating the fortitude and bravery of
wounded soldiers. The team will begin their expedition to the South Pole in November for four weeks and will travel a total
of 335km while pulling 70kg sleds. Temperatures at the South Pole can get as low as -45°C. The team will race to the
South Pole against Armed Forces personnel from the United States and Commonwealth (Australia and Canada) who have
sustained physical or cognitive injuries in the line of duty.
The Walking with the Wounded team, including Prince Harry himself, will wear Baffin’s Endurance and Impact from the
Polar Series, designed to keep your feet warm in temperatures down to -100°C/-148°F. These highly technical expedition
boots have been meticulously thought out and tested in the most extreme environments, including the South Pole by
President and Chief Testing Officer, Paul Hubner. Coupled with Baffin’s new Polar Socks, made in Canada, these boots will
wick away the moisture generated by high activity, while reflecting energy back upon the foot for warmth.
At the international news conference this past Friday, the 28-year-old prince teased his competitors saying, “As a member
of the British team, I will have a brew (tea) on ready for you when you join us at the Pole,”
