HEATHER LAWTON FALL/WINTER 2013

our fav was this fab hooded cape----though fur NOT... Hopefully this inventive outerwear design will show up with some alternative insulation...
Waaayyyy over on the west side of Manhattan-NYCdwelling/designer Heather Lawton staged a well-attended presentation of winter ready separates -set amongst models posed on circular twinkling 'forests'...

The presentation generated a lot of good buzz with the editorial types we chatted with---afterwards.

so pretty-cotton voile blouse over stretch duchess satin skirt with leather and silk details. ....without the fur trim would be a great ensemble
Here's why-wearable modern pieces- including the staple of every other gal we know-leggings, form fitting/figure hugging, soft leather---as want it now as the Daryl K ones we coveted all through the 90's...plus blouses, asymmetrical jersey tops and cute tweedy wool/velvet jackets, satin/silk skirts and dresses (jumpers)-all in basically three colors (black, white, cobalt blue)...that would work interchangeably with whatever one already owned.

winter shorts...a bit of the grrrr

We chatted a bit with the designer-who told us she was "inspired by equestrians---I ride horses (fyi-competitively too-growing up in Canada)...and a girl running through the forest---distressed." As in Hansel and Gretel tale we thought-the latter individual...or any young princess-y heroine in  Grimms Fairy Tales---attired for the 21st century.

Easily a top pick of many---and the one bolt of color----the pink moto leather jacket.
Everyone LOVED this bubble gum pink leather moto jacket

the French lace top-beautiful

different materials-in a dressage cut long tail jacket

leather cocoon shape leather coat/cape---a winner-with big outer pockets. Again-here's hoping it delivers in insulation like Primaloft.

loved this asymmetrical short sleeve blazer ---can wear with leggings, jeans, a slim skirt...

asymmetrical blue velvet jacket over leggings---where all the time uniform
