MANDARIN ORIENTAL HOTEL, NYC

Snow Magazine brought some high altitude Aspen glamour to the city recently---with several companies displaying their snow friendly performance wear that doubles as fashion statement, as well as a few gear/equipment names...and resorts.

Transpack makes durable and smartly designed packs for this carrying skis/skates/snowboards...with multiple pockets including roomy interiors for helmets, straps and buckles available to haul it all around.

reflective details

purple grape-new color-w/ reflective trim-patented Isosceles Storage System™ -side pockets for boots surround a large water resistant central compartment----TRV Pro, XT Pro,  and Compact Pro sizes ($139.95-$119.95)....
For Fall 2012---there are new color waves and patterns ---and a terrific trim feature-reflective stripes---so important given how early the sun sets during winter months---when even strolls in the unlit parking lots of mountain resorts-can be hazardous...with those departing après ski bars...maybe not so sharp.

Ridge Tech lightweight slim profile...
zippered pocket opens to hold a helmet

love this-zipped pocket in the neoprene padded shoulder straps

inner zip pocket inside the outer pocket great for keys,  and credit cards

durable water resistant tarpaulin bottom-airline tough
Other details of the Ridge Tech--- double locking, self repairing nylon coil zippers, contoured adjustable comfort shoulder straps, internal mesh hydration sleeve, padded internal laptop sleeve---fleece mesh goggle pocket, key clip inside front pouch, zippered mesh water bottle pockets on side.
fyi-we use ours for a transition bag doing triathlons!!!!! Nice touch-the padded backs here too, ---XTW The Classics-made of tough going 600 denier polyester----with the weight distributing patented Isosceles Storage System™

top cinches... main compartment.
WHAT ELSE-Ski luggage in roller bag design $199.95

The event had two fashion shows---one that was focused on the lifestyle pieces---another for the functional performance pieces that we felt were just as fashion-y and more non-fur options.

Urban friendly trends- and function over fashion when it comes to materials chosen (except for those really ridiculous furs pieces which we rarely ever seen worn in NYC anyway-and mostly by Euro tourists...mercifully)...

PLUS: silhouettes were often slim fitting-as regular street wear is---made of four way stretch materials=warmth without the bulk.

Bold colors dominated- over prints- and design influences from utilitarian/military---to motocross---never seem to go out of style.
