STEVE ALAN SPRING 2012 PRESENTATION

Chelsea Studios NYC

words/images Judith Ecochard

STEVE ALAN -the label -is known for its cool, on trend clothes for confident types---

---and with a summery state of mind-showed a collection for hipsters that took classic all-American fabrics and prints-like gingham...cut into reinterpreted casual wear ---accessible 50's/60's flavored vintage chic ...with a few somewhat sleeker urbane, urban looks thrown into the mix.

Not too fitted, the silhouettes were tailored...and we could see all the Columbia students in our 'hood looking ready for class and a night out from studying...in any of these looks...simply accessorized with wedge and mary-jane sandals, loafers, wide brim straw hats and skinny ties.

Grandpa's jacket and checked shirt for a new generation not born till decades after Eisenhower was Prez....

We bet most of the models here probably hopped the subway to go to class after the presentation ended at 10AM.

In a mostly pale, faded prints pastels/chino collection---these dark separates stood out...a bit edgier in an otherwise laid back collection of tees, collar shirts, shorts, and dresses..

More polished separates -cropped pants we  think will be delivered longer for less of a schoolboy look
