XOXO and JOLT PRESS PREVIEW

FALL 2010 WOMENSWEAR, DENIM and ACCESSORIES

1407 BROADWAY, NYC

           xoxo

We took in two corporate retailer Kellwood owned labels recently and were more than impressed with the, styling, price points and quality of both collections:  JOLT and XOXO.

jolt

Jolt is made for the teener crowd of 16-18 years old (everything is tagged under $100 retail) --- but we found the sizing more akin to women’s silhouettes these days (we checked out the sizing chart’s measurements)…as American cuts are changing with the population.

Plus, there are sophisticated touches that make these garments cute, but also urbane and ageless, really. We think any gal can find something to like that will fit just fine.

As in the dark rinse indigo or grey jeggings coined “The Pick Me Up” that are really terrific----with denim back details on leggings, a button closure without the zip…and are comfy staples for year round wear. ($39) Available now...

There are also knit pants that feel like super soft thin flannel …but fit like denim with stretch---in many dark colors…all under $50.

Denim every which way!!!!  Back pockets details of studs, embellishments…dark, distressed, etc.

motorcycle details-

Jackets galore…some of the top looks are inspired by the trends…a denim motorcycle, equestrian influences, ruffled pleather

Tweedy wool numbers…with oversized buttons and thick cuffs…to wear over a dress or with jeans on the weekend…these are amazingly versatile.

Pretty and warm…coquettish wool coats… in tweed and our fav winter white.

FAKE FUR---warm, vests and a blouson style…stylish! And note to designers everywhere…look realistic enough!

Out now and selling well…a romper.

XOXO is for the gal that’s evolved into her 20’s from the college gal into her work world…with different everyday to night wardrobe needs.

Fall 2010 is divided into two collections (EASY VIRTUE and HAYWOOD ESTATES)…and both got the casual chic and office friendly attire right in different colr waves.

Easy Virtue----had an assortment of seasonless, strapless dresses belonging to that prom/homecoming category…a phenomenon that’s catching on across the country. Colors run ‘cool’ as in turquoise, blue, black, white. gray...

leather motorcycle- a classic

OUR TOP PICK:

The chunky knit cowl neck tunic/dress with a flattering A-line shape to wear on its own…or…belt it with boots…over hosiery or leggings.

Haywood Estates, a warmer toned collection, has the winning separates

---- IMHO…a wearable and adorable suit jacket/skirt combo that can be worn separately, with sweaters, jeans etc…making this a real workhorse outfit.

Army green and gold dominated the color palette----in pretty printed frocks, corset style blouses to wear under a blazer or on it’s own, cut cropped blazers, etc.

Also, on target footwear (buckles, studs, booties with cuffs, peep toe platforms, etc)…

Handbags/Satchels…pleather…pockets, zipper inner compartments…in animal prints...the new neutral.
