Mercedes Benz Fashion Week NEW YORK

For her latest collection, Canton born, Hong Kong raised, New York dwelling and fashion icon, Vivienne Tam showed her Fall 2010 looks in her jammed packed downtown boutique (40 Mercer Street@ Grand Street).
Designer Vivienne Tam is surrounded!
With the animal and reptile symbols of the Chinese zodiac as inspiration, the animus spirit came through in the prints and textile textures.
Silhouettes are sophisticated and cleverly constructed with folds, drapes, and pleats over animal lace hosiery.
Horse tail inspired hair
A tiger slashed funnel neck coat besides an animal rooster feather skirt ensemble drove home the zodiac mindset though we favored the bold red silk faille Dragon scale origami cheongsam tunic over army green twill kung fu pants---a terrific example of Tam chicly fusing her Chinese heritage with what a global living/trotting female would want to wear.
Up close...we could see how luxe the fabrics were...embellished with origami and tulle floral appliques.
Gray silk gazar OX origami with red Pig origami applique
We were glad to see such a great turnout...
