Leifsdottir designer, Johanna Uurasjarvi travels are always inspiring…and last year’s trip to Barcelona ---with it’s flamenco dancing, bullfighting Matadors, Surrealist painter Salvador Dali…and tradition of lace and ruffled clothes…all translated into wearable pieces for Fall 2010.
A parlour room vignette with flirty models with walk, sit and pose on a dramatically lit stage ensconced
---in the wonderfully atmospheric Prince George ballroom on East 27th Street…that had the faded elegance of many European dance halls.
Sparkling wine, olives, cheese and crackers appropriately sustained the crowd of onlookers who watched from intimate cocktail tables gathered around the raised stage set.
The clothes themselves…had some drama, for sure…particularly a long Black Silk Paso Doble skirt and a Black Wool Salida de Gran skirt.
Black Satin Twill Modernisme Blazer, Surreal Orange Silk Cotton Corbate Tee, Silk Skirt
But for everyday...
there are pretty ruffled and pencil skirts, lacy stockings and dresses...
skinny denim, pretty dresses, boleros and blazers.
