German brand Deuter is on the backs of almost every Euro we see when we’re across the Pond in the middle of the Continent…
FOR--- not only is this 111 years old brand attiring multi-generational customers, but it continues to re-tool the technical features (based on it’s proprietary knowhow built by employees who have worked decades there). THE big pluses--- the flexible Deirin construction for extra stability, and the Aircontact back system---tailored for gender, sports and back lengths---
AND- the color palette gets updated, season after season. And yes, that matters.
WHAT’S NEW:
The ACT Trail 24 ($109) daypack has a lot of features for the do it in a day types…including a built in/detachable rain cover, an accessible-via a U shaped zipper- main compartment (for a top loading pack, YES!)…side zip/mesh pockets, ice/hiking pole loops, contoured padded shoulder straps with 3D AirMesh ---a must for hot temps, and a comfy Aircontact system---via two Aircontact pads for ventilation... etc…
---the unisex 32-L styles.
IN MIDNIGHT/STORM BLUE…HAULS 20lbs!
Nice…28 L version, introduced last year--- is woman specific.
ALSO for gals…is the GUIDE 40+SL that finally gives mountaineering and snowsporters the means to haul all their necessary gear--- it's lower compartment is big enough for a sleeping bag, straps for ropes, easy heavy duty-YKK zippers' giving access to everything,
and a second, inner top pocket for things like car keys…that one really doesn’t need regular access to. PLUS---removable X-stays across the back of the pack.
Roomy, for sure…but still blessed with the Alpine back system that allows for air circulation ---and a VariFlex hip belt that pivots to comfortably follow twists and turns (and/or crawls). ($169 in MOSS/TITAN---ships August).
INFO: E-Commerce…widely available in stores and online…
