Yeah, holiday gift giving is getting the buzz...but we’re onto the next season.

At the MODA Manhattan tradeshow…we got a tip to check out two new collections…that are well made, current, and yet to get the buzz.

Vu Collections is a stunning assortment of delicate and very sophisticated dresses, all made by hand at insanely inexpensive price points. Watch out Oscar.

Designed by the Vietnamese born Huong Vu Pickford, her debut RTW for Spring 2010 is a paradise of colors in sensuous, pricey silks that are crafted into elegant dresses.

We had a nice chat with Jeremy Pickford… who clued us in that his wife is inspired by her background--- visiting Buddhist Temples and floating flower markets, their current resident in tropical St.Thomas, and the French influence on Vietnam’s culture, particularly its couture techniques…

WE LOVE: Everything. What we would wear …the sleeveless frocks with hand attached petals from the Petal Collection and the hand embroidered shifts part of the Empress Collection.

Apparently retail prices are $140-$330…

Retailers should get motivated to check Vu Collections out…

RETAIL...Independent Boutiques including Eye of The Needle- Palm Beach, Out of The Box- Greenwich Ct and Signature- Washington DC

Talk about convenience… OYUKAA, (a nickname btw)…a terrific assortment of classic day into night dresses…had a booth that was right next to the aforementioned.

Hailing from Mongolia, Oyun Nyamsuren now resides in Seattle…where when we visited, we seemed to blend right into a sea of outdoor gear attired types. Plenty of Patagonia, in other words.

Well, now the residents have some feminine options with the basics bumped up tastefully…ruffles, safari style pockets---that we saw.

The deep colors…purple, black, silver and shaped silhouettes--- got us thinking Mad Men…though Nyamsuren cited icon Audrey Hepburn as her style guru. Great choice.

The plaid tafetta sleeveless dress, with pockets that lay flat (Yes)…actually sold out.

The garments are currently made in British Columbia, which goes a long way to explaining the quality.

RETAIL: Dresses around $288, Cotton Blouses $60-$70.
