COMFORT is getting major play among footwear designers for a reason…women demand it.
Our urban selves however…look for kickers that make a fashion statement…with the magical ability to seduce our peepers with artistic worthy heels. Not with the leftover hooker peds from the 1990 pic (and major footwear influence this year) Pretty Woman --- a flick we cannot fathom why it is so popular.
ADDED PLUS: Attired in black or denim…it’s the shoes more than any other accessory…that make an outfit.
PURA LOPEZ is a collection of high-end footwear that has garnered serious editorial ink on this side of the Pond--- . The company has several stores that carry the line in Europe AND a shop in shop ---in Galerie Lafayette –in Paris.
But in the USA…they are still an under the radar brand we think…that’s going to change.
Point being, yes a great PR team…but the footwear is fabulous with sexy silhouettes--- and without being ornate.
We stopped by their suite at the Hilton Hotel yesterday-during the FFANY tradeshow…for some pics of the hot selling Spring collection. (Note---retailers get their paws on the merch in January).
Espadrilles---on platforms and stacked heels…with canvas or leather uppers are popular.
We loved the refined design on the heel on this black canvas sample…as the jute is like a thick band…with a black canvas heel.
Wedges are height without the suffering. Suede and leather…in multi straps sandals are selling well. A bonus for Spring 2010 is the pretty muted color selections…like camel, taupe, navy and burnt orange.

Arts and Crafts inspirations---in a braided trim leather...get the Boho right.
PURA LOPEZ is one of the few labels we saw with an extensive high heel collection. And there is nothing like strapping on a pair of these to up the legs’ glam-ability …really.
Peeps toes, thick bands in contrasting materials with ankle straps…and a stunning “plain” pump are beautiful. Note too…the toe bed rests on a platform to lessen the angle of the foot without -compromising on the height.
SPECIAL: The metallic leather –in a gold pewter tone…is doing very well and flattering against all skin tones. We love the gold chain shoulder strap handbag…with an oversized flower petal detail.
Flats are perennial favorites of women…and we think the Cocco Crosta…with medallions ...
and the snakeskin ankle strap of the Testa Glacé --- are so chic…that even the no heel ever, flat adverse amongst us---will appreciate the gorgeous aesthetics.
