AKOO "A KING OF ONESELF" HOLIDAY 2009-HIP GIFTS FOR THE GUY

AKOO SHOWROOM
West 13th Street, NYC

WORDS/Images Judith Ecochard

We had a quick followup to the preview we glimpsed at a few weeks back---of the terrific clothing line founded by rapper/actor T.I.

Well, here's one reason why this talented guy was included in "10 Most Stylish Men In America" by GQ Magazine...he wears the clothes.

For the Holidays, bonus points go to the clairvoyants (that include designer/co-founder Ralph Reynolds), for taking the red hot/always classic Rugby looks...and bumping it up.

The Touchline striped shirt ($98)...is well made and sports just the right amount of patches and labels to give it flair. (In Dull Gold and Caviar/Dull Gold).

We also thought the heavy weight Descended Herringbone blazer (pictured at the top)...with a removable attached scarf ($310)- an inspired urban take on the English hunt jacket.

Other winners include the collegiate Credential jacket (pictured here is the back of the Dull Gold jacket, also available in Heather Gray- $425)...

and a sturdy Tackle sweater---that's warm enough to ward off winter's chill ($189) ----and would blend right into the cinematic wardrobe tricking out the actors in that smash hit film Invictus---the Clint Eastwood directed flick--- starring Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon.

On trend but not trendy...these are separates every guy from your kid brother to your Dad will wear forever. That's if, someone else doesn't "borrow." Ha Ha.
