The Gift Show at the Javits Convention Center (mid August) had a wide assortment of things we’d love to find all wrapped up under the Tree.

One aisle that particularly grabbed us was the one hosting the Warren-Tricomi® booth. Stocked with want to try, beautifully packaged hair care products helmed by the legendary duo of Edward “Scissorhands” Tricomi-Hair Stylist and Joel Warren-Colorist of luscious locks--We had a nirvana moment.

We remember the launch of the signature revolutionary Strength Collection-the Three-Step System (Cleanse, Close, and Condition) that targets all types of hair (Fine, Dry, Normal-including color-treated or highlighted).

BIG BUZZ: Besides good for your hair ingredients like Avocado Oil, Yucca, Arnica, Hops, Montana Flower, Wheat Proteins, Vitamins A, C, and E---etc…the unique “only-one-of-its-kind Strengthener formula to use between the specific shampoos and conditioners--- is “designed to close the cuticle of each strand and return hair to its healthiest, shiniest state.” ($22-$25)

AT THE SHOW: The new to us Green Walnut Hair Masque ($38) that was selling very well to online and brick and mortar retailers. Aromatically terrific (really!)...this thick repair cream soothes frazzled locks with therapeutic ingredients like Green Walnut and Hydrolyzed Protein Polymer that penetrates damaged hair shafts.

Interestingly, the masque boasts a “Time Release Science” that binds healing particles to the hair even after rinsing…for hours of repair.

We lucked out as we got a complimentary blow out that had us all prettified in a bouncy style way. LOVE.

The Warren-Tricomi stylist that performed the magic, Sukran Almac, generously shared some haircare tips:

WORST MISTAKES TO MAKE/ Hairwise: “Consumers need to know how to apply products…meaning start with a little bit, warm up the product a bit in palms, start/finish the ends -or roots- depending,

AND-get regular trims…a split end can run up the entire hair shaft if not nipped in the bud, so-to-speak.

WORDS OF WISDOM: “There’s no good or bad hairstyle…it is better to customize.”

Shuki was rockin’ easy natural tousled waves----which might have taken some minutes to achieve. She uses a combo of the light weight Blow-Dry Lotion ($15) that tames frizz but keeps hair soft/flexible-with the Blue Gel ($17) –a setting/sculpting lotion without the dreaded crunch.

THE SALON: We were eager to visit the renovated 6100 sq. foot salon at The Plaza Hotel (and Condos) that has served as a posh sanctuary for getting glam- for just over a year now.

This luxurious oasis is thoughtfully laid out by function, with dramatic and softly lit lofty open and comfy cuddly rooms that logically flow---all accessed from the second floor of this historic New York landmark. Naturally, homage is paid to the art deco-ish elements of this structure…

Two years of construction orchestrated by noted architects Bonetti/Kozerski was worth it. After a warm greeting, we cruised the intimate black granite floor manicure/pedicure area (Murano glass pedi bowls, CHIC)... the near-by makeup application stations flawlessly lit, and a tucked away VIP room with a separate entrance.

EXCLUSIVE: The Sally Hansen for Warren-Tricomi collaboration of exclusive nail polishes.

We next viewed “Edward’s Kingdom” ---the 22 chair color room with high techy drying machines suspended form the ceiling, set off dramatically by the floor to ceiling mirrors and lighting. Hello Battle Star Galatica/ 2001 Space Odyssey.

The hair cutting ‘room’ is open and warmed up with sandy beige tones and plush seating. We were there before the official AM opening, but clients were already getting styled.

A full range of hair/waxing/bridal services are available…including an “@ HOME” division whereby a stylist is dispatched to one’s hotel room, office or home for the ultimate in privacy.

SPECIAL THANKS: To Eva who made our ragged paws look ssooooooo presentable. And yes, there is a huge difference (process and results!) between a mani at a real salon vs. the chop shot on our street corner.
