Alfred Angelo Sapphire Mikado and Net Princess Line Gown-A Crowd Pleaser

Private Collection Taffeta Mermaid Gown in Diamond White

Words, Images Judith Ecochard

Alfred Angelo is an international brand of special occasions’ ladies attire. For Spring 2010 Bridal, the creative director, Michael Shettel, was inspired by the yachting destination Newport, RI and a documentary of its famous Jazz Fest of 1958 (Jazz On A Summer Day’s).

We thought the sculpted shapes with simple elegant details and the classic free flowing gowns (as in a taffeta A-Line halter dress)---- all flattering silhouettes, the highlights.

Examples of this were in the Alfred Angelo and Piccione Collections…the later being premium priced.

There were more ornate dresses too--- with make an entrance Chapel and Semi-Cathedral trains…with delicate rhinestone, lace and crystal beading…

presented throughout the runway show, with the most decorated belonging to the Piccione collection.

Piccione Silk taffeta Gpwn, Asymmetric Draped Elogated Bodice with Beaded Empire Band and Swirl Skirt

Naturally--- as this was a summer collection, strapless draped and pleated bodices, sweetheart necklines dominated.

Bridesmaids have desirable options that we can see effortlessly transition into cocktail frocks they would actually want to wear on other occasions.

Bold colors like Island Pink, Capri Blue, Orange Sunset, natural tones

and water color prints in Duprioni silk or cotton sateen dresses, were actually very nice.

We can see the bridal party looking pretty and feeling comfortably attired--- whether inside a church, at an outdoor venue, or bopping on the dance floor. We love the pockets too.

Alfred Angelo has gowns at many price points…and famously in every size imaginable…from junior to a women’s 2-28W.
