LuxeLeisure-Active Street Wear: Trends

Sorry fashion fashion people. There's a reason leggings never lost their appeal...despite predictions of doom since the 1980's-when stretchy shape retention fabrics went widespread.

They are comfortable, can flatter figures-and have dress-up/down wardrobe essential traits that qualify as everyday uniforms.

AND though typical streetwear seems to be picking up high fashion details...luxe leisure vs athleisure...crossover appeal and stylish functional separates for casual lifestyles are here to stay.

Highlights from Active Collective NYC:

Mixed Textures in iconic moto jacket -top pick!
Obsessed with BlancNoir's mixed textured  (and top selling) take on a moto jacket-with stretchy breathable mesh inserts, padded back-(helps if you carry a backpack besides looking cool)...comes in another color, different styles (classic, vintage, Angel Falls etc version)..and there will even be a snake print one available soon LOVE!
Retail from around $149 for City Classic-up to $498, depending on style

leggings =appropriate everyday uniform

top destinations that carry the line-Carbon 38, Nordstrom, Neiman's, Bloomingdales ...
Blanc Noir-another winner!

Outerwear Not for Yoga specifically-From Active Wear Labels

LOLË has gold metallic sheen to its animal (tiger!!)print-step up from the usual. Leopard spots have dominated as of late.

Norma Kamali-esque...LOLË with wide lapel that can be closed up if it's really cold out

New to us-German label MAZINE...had nice puffy vest with a hood- flattering seams-loads of pockets (yay)-and vegan leather tabs.

FP Movement by Free People-had a nice take on cargo-utility jacket...with mesh interior, cozy button up color, great pockets including sleeve zipped ones, and matching shorts.

Details-THE Waistbands
Specially knitted waistbands are a major selling point of yoga-pilates pitched bottoms---holding  wearers in without the muffin top squeeze. Cult fav-AVOCADO -has cradle to cradle operations (designed, knitted, sewn, hand-dyed) in LOS ANGELES-and knits its own. Pictured here- Avocado top/bottom -made of a woven using the new EcoCare Sensil fabric made from leftover (pre consumer waste) NYLON 6.6.

Avocado's knit waistbands are PATENTED -made on one of 70 Italian circular knitting machines
Spiritual Gangster is known for their soulful messages on  tops...

Construction of Spiritual Gangster's  waistband is exceptional...three different weaves in there-keeps one 'in place' and comfortable.
like the detail cut-outs of the inner seam of these leggings.

Colors and Prints
COR-digital prints-works of art here-dark moody element to  floral while the vertical black stripes are flattering. Nice switch from animal prints.

Nuxe Active-darker fuschia pink...we expect to see more of this color in 2021.
Spiritual Gangster-take on a leopard print in a cozy faux fur bomber with retro varsity hem details.
