Latest Design Trends-Home/Boutique Hotels

Part One
Whether at home or in homey (comfortable) surroundings- basic design fundamentals crossover-more than ever-
in  residential and boutique hotel spaces.
Layers of textures, fabrics (velvet is big)+colors + patterns can work-in hotel guest room or in a home home.  LOVE-moody medium blues like PPG's Chinese Porcelain, Sherwin Williams Naval= 2020 color of the year.
Popular Piero Fornasetti  plates grab the eyes first. This 'room' mixes well- Hollywood Art Deco -70's glam vibe -  break from last decade's Mad Men- mid-century modern styles.
In fact- interior design inspirations for both-seems to go both ways- at the recent BDNY tradeshow-and  D+D Building Fall 2019 market.

Shared:
The beginning=a 'story'-conceptual sense of place framing the layered-accessorized setting-whether as...  an older building with modern interiors or mixing of vintage+new,  urban destinations as entertainment or as a sanctuary,  wellness-in spaces/retreats-incorporating natural elements beyond the cliché bringing the outdoors in, more dramatic or strategic lighting -in multi-functional public space(s),  sticking with sticky trends (NOT FADS)-incorporating local art-the environment or travel experiences/ actual souvenirs -in color palette/patterns/accent choices,  ...and OF COURSE... technology-from the minimal must (wifi)-to the completely automated extreme.

Note: Boutique Hotels -theoretically -are where we often stay under the same roof-with strangers-but with opportunities to connect (community) in public spaces--- like Air Bnbs.. another example of what residential-commercial spaces share

Highlights:

Mustard Seed/dark marigold YELLOW on the fashion runways last year (ha ha ha often dubbed  the new Millennial pink ). This color works with certain skin tones (imo)
So a year later-this shade in furniture-that surprise-pops in a black-white context + gold accents. (above-) and in a textured wall 'paper' (below)

Bringing The Indoors OUT
Frontporch Swing update! Walters showroom.

...and maybe the only reason confirmed urbanites move to the land of backyards...outdoor spaces are 'furnished.' We loved the new outdoor heat lamps -overhead pendant and oversized floor lamps -that double as illumination...adding to seasonal  patio proof accessories and furnishings-like this chic outdoor recliner/canopy bed.
