Fashion with a capital “F” gets all the press and celeb hallelujahs, but the reality?
The average American women is a size 12-16…sizes most acclaimed Fashion Week designers wouldn’t dream of tailoring in---unless by special request and big bucks.
This is akin to subscription numbers of Vogue magazine –used to being the Bible of all things stylish…being bested by reality…that being that Red Book or Women’s Day reads out more, selling wise- than that impossibly chic glossy.
We have seen the latest advertisements by The Slimming Solution™, a collection of stylish, everyday office/casual separates aimed at the middle market.
When we got to the spacious light filled showroom in the Garment Center, we were treated to a wide assortment of Sag Harbor™ (Misses sizes) and Briggs Harbor New York, (for the growing 65 plus age)…collections, set to ship anywhere from July 2009 on.
THE SLIMMING SOLUTION ™ “Perfect All The Way Around”
Unlike Spanx®, The Slimming Solution™ separates have separate, state-of-the art supportive PowerNet Panels (sewn in strong lycra material/mesh liners) that firm up targeted areas (stomachs, hips, thighs)---but the garments do not compress a size down.
The line also incorporates The Hip Solution (pants, skirts) and The Knit Solution (tops, bottoms) a soft to the touch (really) fabric “enhances the bustline, trims the waistline and minimizes body bulges.”
Priced affordably (we saw a range from either side of MSRP $48)…the Fall colors are on trend, (basics, and autumnal colors) and the cuts of the tops and wear with anything black pants---flattering on all body types.
This is not va va voom attire…but clothes women can wear everyday with comfy confidence that they look slimmer!!!
SAG HARBOR:
We got a preview of Sag Harbor’s garments that are set for monthly shipments…a staggering phenomenon that shows how extensive this company, (owned by Kellwood) is.
We really like a deep cowl neck acrylic knit sweater (MSRP $48 - part of the Fashion Basics classics’ line). Available in different shades of ombre…we swear we saw the similar style sweater, albeit in luxe 2-ply Italian cashmere…in the New York, Madison Avenue windows of the high end Max Mara.
Also catching our eyes is a handsome black textured microfiber jacket, that mimics leather but is waterproof, breathable and naturally cruelty free.
Other trends Sag Harbor’s incorporates for Fall 2009 are plush wrapped ¾ sleeve long cardigans, tartan/tweed blazers and outerwear, and feminine takes on menswear like long sleeve shiny self tie blouses, sleeveless ruffle neck tops, and pencil style skirts.
ACCESSORIES:
If nothing else, women always get the bag…and SAG HARBOR manages to come up with leather-like versions of solid and
mixed fabrics python, moc croc, burnished antiique 'leather' and cro-suede satchels, totes, clutches, and hobo bags with all the zipped inner pockets a modern women needs. (MSPRs $48).
