BYRON LARS FALL 2011 "Native Americana"

Lincoln Center, NYC

Words/Images Judith Ecochard

Byron Lars presented what we thought was a rather luxurious collection for grown up ladies who like to dress well...with 21 looks on well poised/posed models ready to smile for the cameras!!!!!

Festive atmosphere-happy designer-the place was packed!

The Native American references ---from what we could see, maybe more in spirit (though the color Turquoise is often associated with the stone used widely in jewelry)---but certainly the make-up white war paint and feather head pieces and mohawks by L'Oreal Mizani (makers of that fab hair oil) were obvious flourishes that imparted humor more than style to wear out and about.

a fav-a black stretch garbardine stretch side peplum sheath

We thought the high end fabrics-lush wools, garbardine, nubby tweed, and particularly wonder lace---was more Upper East Side than anything...and stunning at that.

Silhouettes were flattering too---with perfect tailoring and ruching---made for a gals curves---with fitted sheafs and waist defining flair.

Well done bark faux shearling cropped jacket with flared sleeve

And lots of interesting back views---deep v's and lace...
