Victoria Bartlett's VPL collection always seems to have a common thread, season after season...slinky jersey knits, straps, lingerie-like exposure of skin cutouts, and color blocked garments.

This outing for Spring 2011 carried on with the thematic similarities---as we had a chat with the designer right before her show.

"My biggest challenge is not to come up with something new but to stay true to a common thread," she told us.

The DNA of the brand, often thought of as underwear as outwear----"VPL" has always been to give "women something comfortable wrapped  to the body...that they can even sleep in."

This year, the idea of "suspension" and "gravitational pull. A sense of precariousness within the form, dangling by a mere thread," ---"how it hangs...and it's all about the fabrics," ---the key reference points.

AND
NUDE skin-care line founded by Bryan Meehan, Bono and his wife Ali Hewson---formulated WITHOUT silicones, propylene glycol, emulsifiers PEGs, parabens, phthalates and sulfates...pro-biotic rich, healing, moisturizing...

Interesting, for the designer, pictured above, it starts with the finale...and she works backwards from there, when conjuring up her collection for the season.

We thought this outing had some terrific neutrals (camel, putty, copper) and prints---...and our fav silhouettes---the body wear suspension dresses, swimsuits and bras,,.paired with leggings,

Also...accessories are always important to the ensembles, particularly with artist Brian Crumley's hand blown necklaces, and HighBrow's found materials 'brow wear"---an opportunity the young creator got by contacting Bartlett...and nailing an interview, securing an opportunity to create this assortment of eyewear.
