We were so reliving our own Gossip Girl school days when we use to slouch around the Mudd Club and Save The Robots in downtown Manhattan…at the recent indie fashion goddess, Catherine Holstein’s RTW show.
Crime is waaaaaay down now and the subways more or less work…but the edgy vibe inside the packed venue, with loud music drowning out any conversation… where we scanned for the fire exits…just in case…and a sense of real excitement was palbably.
Catherine Holstein is a rock and roller clothier for today’s feminine trendsters. Her Fall 2009 collection had the separates her hip following will love…including oversized boyfriend blazers in plaid, and a cocoonish coat in solid gray, stovepipe black pants or high waist, belted soft pleated trousers, above the knee slim drapey jersey wool dirndl skirts and long tunics/mini dresses in solids or a leopard print ( and we haven’t seen much in the way of animal prints this season), and long sweaters, atop sheer black hosiery and cool heeled lace up booties.
Even the makeup---with dark goth shiny lips as “it” and peepers that look like they just woke with their makeup kinda on from the night prior…reminds us of that punk era. And Marc Jacobs Grunge for Perry Ellis.
We liked.
