Exiting the bustling tourist clogged Fifth Avenue, NYC for the hushed, deep chocolate toned sanctuary of Bottega Veneta’s two storied boutique, we felt ourselves slipping into a calm meditative state.

That is until we caught a glimpse of the two-story high, dramatically spot lit shelved wall of chic handbags and plush satchels on display as if they were holy sacraments.

Now that got our hearts’ a pumping.

Under the creative vision of former Hermés and signature swimwear designer, Tomas Maier, the decades old, Italian Bottega Veneta has reinvigorated itself way beyond its classic but always-sumptuous basket weave textured leather goods.

New for resort/spring for men are fresh colors and fabrics for the Neapolitan structured shoulder four season lightweight charcoal gray double breasted suit and a timeless bomber-now cut in lightweight silk gray or plaid. Naturally the woven leather theme is prevalent…deftly used in classic loafers, large over sized carryalls, and in an elegant structured croc briefcase with solid brass metal hardware…all blessedly logo free. As with the women’s accessories, all lining is 100% stitched and handmade in-house in Vinceza.

The sophisticated, feminine garments designed by Maier will flatter many body types. Case in point is a lovely, slim silhouette courtesy of a lined, two pocketed, pale pink sheath and a sensually draped neck beige dress cinched at the waist with a wide leather belt. Both looks are party perfect or office appropriate.

A half patent, half leather handbag, as well as seamless bags in new colors like a deep umbria and oxidized leather shimmery metallic… plushly complete the line of buttery lamb, exotic ostrich, and American deerskin leather accessories. Additionally, this Gucci-owned brand has expanded to encompass a luxe line of sunglasses, gold leather woven bracelets, and custom designed hard case luggage.

Available in high-end department stores (Saks, Barney’s, Bergdorf’s) as well as its own boutiques… Bottega Veneta has managed to captivate the quality driven customer. At the very least- worldwide jet setters will want to make their runway dashes attired with its versatile light grey croc flight bags with adjustable shoulder straps- that debuted on both the men’s and women’s Milan runways.
